My name is Jamie and I'm currently a freshman Nursing student at University of Detroit Mercy. I have decided to start this blog as a 36 week project (one full school year). I'm calling it "The People Project - Detroit".
Here's how it works:
Every week I will update the blog about a person I met in the previous week. This will begin the first week I move to school (August 22) and end my last week of school (April 23).
Don't worry, I'm not going to update about the random girl next to me in my spanish class. I understand that it may take talking to a few people in order to find the one worth writing about. The person must meet certain qualifications. I will only update about somebody unique that sparks interest to not only me but my followers. Hopefully, I can find a person with an interesting life story or background. I'm hoping this blog will force me to reach out to people I normally wouldn't and get the most out of my first year of college. I know that if I talk to at least one person every week, I will become more aware of the wide range of students at Detroit Mercy.
I've decided to not tell my friends at college about my blog. I feel as though it may ruin the sincerity of the blog if people at school know what I'm doing. I'm also not going to tell the person I'm talking to about my motives. This will help eliminate exaggeration of stories and whatnot. I do expect to meet some new friends through this so my motives are not strictly to find someone to write about. I will change names or may not use a name at all in the updates to keep with privacy.
I hope to find this project a complete success and look forward to starting. Look out for a post the week of August 22 with my first project!
